Our Motto: "Tradition of Sailing Excellence"

Our Mission:
"The primary purpose of this Corporation is to encourage, develop, promote and administer a recreational and educational small boat center to benefit the health and well-being of the public by providing a facility for small boat sailing activities and program designed to teach water safety, sailing instruction, recreational sailing and all allied activities."Tradition of Sailing Excellence" is not only the Halifax Sailing Association's motto, but a fitting description for a sailing club that has dedicated itself to promoting the sport of sailing and perpetuating the values of camaraderie and community.

Our Origins:

In 1957, a dozen local sailors, led by Doctor Herbert Kerman, founded the Halifax Sailing Association, affectionately known as HSA.  They had vision, determination, and passion. Their intent: "To find a better way to attract more boats, more sailors, and to organize better races and other sailing events." This continues to be a tradition we have upheld for over 65 years. HSA is one of the oldest and most active sailing clubs in Central Florida.

In the early days, experienced sailors volunteered their time to teach kids and non sailors how to sail.  Many of the best sailors in the Halifax area learned to sail as kids in home built plywood Optimist Prams.  As the club grew, more volunteers developed a formal training program.  Several years ago the Halifax Youth Sailing affiliated organization was formed to better serve our young sailors.  Today HYS conducts summer sailing camps and a year round Sailing Team.

In keeping with the Club's original purpose, we sponsor many races and other sailing activities and provide opportunities to introduce both children and adults to this relaxing sport year after year. We also provide affordable sailing lessons so new sailors can learn to sail the correct way, from experienced, certified instructors. Our facility is located on the Halifax River, close to downtown Daytona Beach, Florida.

Each summer HSA offers Adult "Learn To Sail" Sunfish courses and Adult Intermediate Capri courses.

Come join us on the 1st Sunday of every month for our "Reilly's run 'round the buoys"

and the 3rd Sunday of the month for our HSA Fleet Races.
