As of 11/2/06 the club voted on a motion written by Lew Slaughter and read by Chris Baker. The motion was to name the tri-hull the "Commodore Smith". With all those at the meeting voting for the motion, it was settled.
These pictures represent only a very small portion of the time and effort invested in this project by many people. A big thanks goes to all that have helped because it just would not be happening without you. And to all those that say "Wow, she looks great", you're welcome.
This is the tri-hull as we got her from the docks at Aunt Catfish Restaurant You might say there was a little work to do...
This shows the old stern, getting ready to lower the mast
Still getting ready to lower the mast Pull Laura, pull, pull
Down it comes...
Ya, that's the right one, hand it to me would you?
Kevin and Linda, Lee and Laura, Brad and Trish, and Gary and Linda had a great day of painting All hands on deck, prepare to splash "Paint" ? The new stern begins to take shape
Gary does initial fitting of the rudder. Need Brad here to do it right. The rudder came from our old tri-hull "Ghost" that was lost in Frances, 2004. Just a little reminder of a fun boat. Gettin' close, push Kevin!!! If only that guy in the back would get out of the way. She's floating guys, Wow! She moves easy now, must have been the bottom holding us up??? First on her is Gary. Safe and sound, ready for the final few things then out for a test sail.
Wednesday, November 8th, 2006 - Sea Test...With one reef in the main and only partial on the jib, we still had one hull out of the water. As we buzzed the dock to show-off Nobody told me how to stop this thing... Plenty of beef holding her down... Kevin doing a jig on the next pass... We had a great sail. Nothing went wrong with the boat, just little adjustments and a couple of things we forgot. Hit over 8 kts. under reefing. No problem tacking, which we all thought would be tough. Just glides through the water.
