Halifax Sailing Association will hold four weekly Sail Camps
with sailing instruction during the months of June and July. These Sail
Camps provide youngsters the opportunity to experience sailing in a relaxed
setting and gives them an introduction to the formal classes that are also
available throughout the year. Sailing is taught in the Optimist [Opti]
dinghy, a worldwide standard in youth sailing instruction.
HSA is a non-profit, sailing education organization operated in the
public interest by volunteer members for the benefit of the residents of Volusia
and Flagler counties.
Our Instructors are U.S. Sailing Certified and our assistants will be HSA
volunteers with many years of sailing experience.
Sail Camp is open to children age 8 thru 12. Sail Camp will provide basic
sailing instruction and fun activities.
The cost for a week of Sail Camp will be $225 per student.
Payment is required prior to the commencement of each Sail Camp. Fees
include instructional material as required. The application form is on
this website. Payment must be submitted to the post office box.
Sail Campers must be able to swim and provide their own Coast Guard approved,
Type III Personal Flotation Device [PFD] and water shoes. Swimming tests
will be administered prior to the commencement of Sail Camp by Instructors or
assistants. The time and place of these tests will be announced. Sail
Campers are to provide their own lunches.
Water and snacks will be provided by HSA during Sail Camp.
Specific instructions and guidelines for Sail Camp will be provided at
registration. Parents must sign the permission form for each child prior to that
child's acceptance into Sail Camp.
HSA volunteers will be on hand for each Sail Camp session. Two
powerboats will be provided during each Sail Camp for safety and retrieval
purposes. Sail Camp parents are welcome to observe and/or assist.
Applications for Sail Camp may be completed and mailed to the address on the
application with the check enclosed.
The ten camper limit, per weekly session, will be filled on a first-come,
first-served basis. So don't delay in selecting and registering for the
camp your kids want.
