SMYRNA YACHT CLUB MICHELOB REGATTA

Notice of Race

March 12, 2006

The 2006 "down the river" Michelob Regatta, sponsored by Smyrna Yacht Club(SYC), will accommodate offshore racing classes in a fun race between the Mosquito Lagoon andtheSYC.

All boats will be handicapped under PHRF, prior to the race on March 12, 2006. The race will begin at S YC, with an east to west starting line, or at Marker 15 in the Mosquito Lagoon between the RC and a west starting line mark. The race will run from north to south, or south to north, depending on wind direction. Advanced notice will be given.

All boats will be stagger started in accordance with PHRF handicap. Slower boats will start first, followed by subsequent faster classes. Your proportionate starting time will be predetermined, and distributed to you at the skipper's meeting.

Each boat will receive one commemorative Michelob Regatta mug at the awards ceremony following the race. First, second, and third place will have their mug engraved with finishing place. First place winner, will be engraved on the trophy cup at the SYC.

Sailing Instructions

1. The race will be governed by the USYRU rules.

2. The mandatory safety equipment will be in accordance with US Sailing Association.

3. The first start will begin at 11 a.m. A warning signal will be given for the first start at 1050, followed by the preparatory signal at 1055. All boats that follow, will start at their eligible starting time, as predetermined on the starting sequence sheet. Starting RC will keep track of starting eligibility and hail boats over the starting line before their time.

4. Boats will start at a line running east of the club to a starting marker, or east of the RC boat to a starting marker. Direction of race will be determined by wind conditions. Boats that have not started, and boats that have finished, will stay clear of boats racing. Failure to stay clear, may result in DSQ.

5. The RC will reserve the right to shorten course, if wind, or weather justifies.

6. There will be a three hour time limit in order to finish.

7. Protest appeal to SYC committee. Forms will be available at registration.

Protests will be delivered to the committee within 60 minutes of race completion. No further appeals.

8. Your starting time sequence, will be delivered to the boat skipper at the skipper's meeting prior to the start of the race.

Scoring

Scoring will be determined by the way each boat crosses finish line. All boats will be Handicapped respective to type of sails, use of spinnaker, double head sail, and prop configuration. There will be one set of awards.

In case of bad weather, the race will be run on subsequent Sundays, at the designated time.
