Welcome to HSAHere is some everyday information that will help you get started at HSA. We are an all volunteer organization, which means that we do not have regularly set hours. However, typically any Saturday or Sunday there are lots of people around that can help you get out sailing. On Thursday the "Thursday Group" is there doing their own sailing. Access to the yard is through the front gate. You will be given the code as a new member. If the automatic gates are not operating then be sure to lock the combo lock into the City's padlock so that either the City or our members can get in. Keys are issued to active participating members. Once we get to know you, just ask. All equipment (sails, rudders, daggerboards) are kept in the garage at this time. Access to the garage will soon be by a card access system. We will be able to track just who has been in the garage, for security reasons. The first Thursday of each month is the general meeting at 7pm here at the Sailing Center. From there check the "200X Events" to see what is coming up. We all sail with life jackets (PFD) when using the small boats and wear water shoes because you don't want to get cut on on oyster shell.
All the larger boats will require a checkout sail with one of the instructors before you can take out the boat. For those with lots of sailing experience the checkout would be very simple and short. To use the larger boats first arrange for a checkout sail, then make your reservation on the website. Use the reservation calendar to see what is already reserved, send in your money and follow up by checking the website to be sure your reservation is applied to the calendar. Finally, since we are all volunteer you might what to check the boat to be sure that it is ready for you when you expect to use it. =======================================================
