Checklist for use of the Pearson Planning your trip: 1) Call boat captain to reserve boat and to verify that it is in ready condition and know if anything has changed. 2) Verify that wind, current and tide are appropriate for your intended use of the boat. 3) Verify that there will be enough fuel for your intended use. 4) If you plan on using the head, fill the water tank. Also instruct your crew on how to flush it. 5) Check that the anchor and rode is still in the forepeak and show your crew where it is. 6) Note how boat is secured and point this out to your crew so it will be secured the same way. 7) If anything is amiss, notify the boat captain immediately.
Starting the engine: 1) Check engine oil. 2) Turn raw water intake valve on 3) Turn battery switch to "1" 4) Check that shift lever is in neutral 5) Put throttle lever just above slow 6) Check for engine exhaust water from pipe on transom. 7) Keep an eye on oil pressure while motoring.
Return: 1) After shutting down engine, close raw water intake valve. 2) Turn batteries to "OFF" position. 3) Place key in drawer. 4) Fold headsail properly, place in bag and stow. 5) Flake mainsail over boom and replace the cover. 6) Secure dock lines and halyard lanyards appropriately so that nothing can chafe. 7) Tie fenders so they stay between the boat and the pilings. 8) Stow jib sheets properly. 9) Place covers on tiller and tie it to minimise rudder friction. 10) If the head was used, make sure it is throughly clean. 11) If the anchor was used, wash it and it's rode, and plan to return it to forepeak when dry. 12) Fill out log book. 13) Make sure that bilge pump is in Automatic position. 13) Check that spring lines do not allow bow to touch the dock.
