SCI Affiliate Policy

The purpose of adding a new affiliate is to add or enhance the purpose of Sailing Center Inc. and the community, which benefits from its existence.

Affiliates groups shall operate under the provisions dictated in the lease agreement between the City of Daytona Beach and the Sailing Center Inc. Policies should include, but not be limited to the following:

1. Teaching sail boating, seamanship, and water safety, first aid, swimming and related marine activities to the youth of the area, its members and the public;

 2. Establishing and conducting boat regattas and water sports activities which have brought and will continue to bring international publicity to Daytona Beach;

 3. Teaching sail boating, seamanship, water safety, first aid, swimming and related marine activities to the youth of the area which will serve to combat juvenile delinquency in the City of Daytona Beach through these activities in an affirmative manner;

 4. Aiding in providing facilities for boating activities in the City of Daytona Beach, thereby helping alleviate the shortage of such facilities in the City of Daytona Beach, and

 5. Further developing boating in the Daytona Beach area, which will aid in establishing boating as a major economic asset to the Daytona Beach Area.

 Policy Terms and Conditions

       1. All Affiliate groups shall be a corporation registered with the state of Florida. Affiliate groups      organization shall be structured as a “sailing” club. Affiliate groups joining after September 9,   2008 will provide SCI “Articles of Incorporation” and “By Laws’.

 2. All Affiliate groups '“members” who use the Sailing Center Inc vessels shall be members of HSA.

 3. Affiliate groups may provide training with the approval of the Sailing Center Inc BOD. All activities utilizing the facility shall be coordinated with the SCI events coordinator, in writing, and approved SCI BOD. Students shall not be required to be HSA MEMBERS.

 4. Affiliate groups will carry adequate liability insurance under the Sailing Center Inc “umbrella” insurance or equivalent. Coverage shall not be less than required in the ”lease agreement” or current local requirements, section XIV indemnify the City of Daytona Beach. The Affiliate group shall provide documentation and named as a certificate holder of equivalent coverage upon renewal if that option is used.

 5. Affiliate groups may hold regattas, fundraisers, parties, etc., with the approval of the Sailing Center Inc BOD. Requests to hold these events shall be made in writing in a timely manner. All activities utilizing the facility shall be coordinated with the SCI events coordinator approved by the SCI BOD. Groups shall be responsible for all preparation and clean up. The facilities shall be in the same or better condition than before the event. Clean up or damage fee may be imposed by SCI if the facilities AND EQUIPMENT are not as expected.

 6. Affiliate groups and their members’ shall follow all Sailing Center Inc. rules.

 7. Affiliate groups shall pay an annual fee to be determined by the SCI BOD for the liability portion of insurance and day-to-day use of the SCI facilities, due and payable by January 15 annually.

 8. Any and all permanent improvements to the SCI facilities made by the Affiliate group shall be approved by the SCI BOD, and will become the property of SCI.

 9. Affiliate GROUP shall have 1 member on the SCI BOD. SCI shall be notified of the Affiliate groups' representative by January 1, or upon replacement. No Board member of an affiliate group will simultaneously hold both an elected position in SCI and the affiliate group.

 10. SCI BOD shall determine the space for boats and equipment to be allocated to each affiliate.

 11. This Policy shall be reevaluated annually prior to the annual meeting or as the BOD deems necessary.
